Brenda's Xmas Pudding

Ingredients
Mixture A
- 1 1⁄2 cups raisins
- 1 1⁄2 cups currants
- 1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar
- 1⁄3 cup candied peel
- 1⁄4 cup sliced almonds
- 3⁄4 cup flour
- 3⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1⁄4 teaspoons salt
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons cinnamon, -ground
- 1⁄4 teaspoon nutmeg, -ground
- 1⁄4 teaspoon clove, -ground
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ginger, -ground
- 1 1⁄2 cups breadcrumbs (soft day-old)
Then Add
- 1 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 cup carrot (grated)
- 1 cup apple (grated)
- 1 cup potato (grated)
Directions
- Mix all "Mixture A"ingredients together.
- Cut butter finely and blend with mixture.
- Beat egg and blend with mixture.
- Add carrot, apple and potato and mix thoroughly.
- Pour two thirds full in greased containers.
- Sit pudding molds on rack inside container that is half-filled with water.
- Steam for three to four hours over low heat in a closed container.
