Bread for Cinnamon Rolls

Very old recipe from a hand written cookbook from Neligh Ne. Recipe uses cake yeast but I am putting dried yeast in. No filling in this recipe but I do have filling recipes that you could use. Show more

Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 2  teaspoons  yeast
  • 12 cup warm water
  • 6  tablespoons  lard
  • 2  cups milk, scalded
  • 2  eggs, beaten
  • 6  cups flour
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 12 cup sugar

Directions

  1. Proof yeast in warm water.
  2. Add lard to hot milk; cool.
  3. Add yeast mixture.
  4. Add beaten eggs.
  5. Stir in flour and salt.
  6. Let rise until doubled.
  7. Punch down; let rise again.
  8. Punch down; roll out and put in pan.
  9. That is all that is written in this recipe.
  10. Bake 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes, I am guessing. I have cinnamon goop recipes from other old recipes.
