Bread & Butter Pickles

Yields: 8 jars
Ingredients
- 4 quarts cucumbers, sliced
- 6 medium onions, sliced
- 2 green bell peppers, chopped
- 3 red bell peppers, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, whole
- 1⁄3 cup salt, table
- 5 cups sugar
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons turmeric
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons celery seeds
- 2 tablespoons mustard, seed
- 3 cups cider vinegar
Directions
- Do not pare cucumbers.
- Slice thin.
- Add onions, peppers, garlic, and salt.
- Cover with cracked ice.
- Mix thoroghly.
- Combine remaining ingredients.
- Pour over cucumbers.
- Heat just to a boil.
- Seal in a hot sterlized jars.
