Braised Leeks

Simple and delicious side item. Got it out of the March 2010 issue of Everyday Food. We did have to add extra water, and we replaced some of the water with chicken broth. Show more

Directions

  1. Trim leeks to white and light green parts only, then cut in half lengthwise.
  2. Separate the layers and rinse.
  3. Melt butter in large skellet over medium heat.
  4. Add leeks and water, season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Cover, simmering about 14 to 16 minutes or until leeks are very tender.
  6. It may be necessary to add more water.
