Bolognese Sauce

Yields: 6 cups sauce
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1⁄2 cup dry red wine
- 2 (28 ounce) cans tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons italian seasoning mix
- 3 -4 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1⁄8 cup sugar
Directions
- Saute the onion in the olive oil until the onion starts to get shiny.
- Stir in sausage and ground beef. Brown completely. Drain off any excess oil.
- Add in red wine, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to a simmer.
- Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, and all spices and sugar.
- Simmer for an hour, stirring occassionally.
