BLT Restaurant Copycat Cheddar and Chive Biscuits

Yields: 8 biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon chives, chopped
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 1⁄4 cups cream
Directions
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt and cayenne together.
- Cut shortening and butter into the flour but don't overwork — small butter pieces are fine.
- Toss in chives and cheddar.
- Toss in cream until it starts to come together but don't mix too much.
- Bake at 375°F for 15 - 17 minutes and serve with sea salted butter and maple syrup.
