Black Bean Hummus Adapted from Penguin Drive-In

Yields: 2 3/4 cups
Ingredients
- 15 1⁄2 ounces garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
- 15 1⁄2 ounces black beans, rinsed and drained
- 2⁄3 cup olive oil and canola oil (equal parts olive and canola)
- 1⁄3 cup water
- 1 tablespoon tahini
- 2 garlic cloves, small, chopped
- 4 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 1⁄2 limes, juiced (or to taste)
- 1 1⁄4 teaspoons kosher salt, plus more to taste
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 pinch ground coriander
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground cumin
- pita chips, for serving
Directions
- Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
- Puree the hummus mixture, in batches if needed, in a food processor until very smooth.
- Taste and season with salt.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and serve with pita chips.
