Biblical Cake

This recipe is the result of a puzzle I was given to solve at my Sunday School. If you found the verses you found the ingredients. It makes one of the best fruitcakes I have ever tasted and I use this recipe as the base of my Christmas fruitcakes. A truly blessed recipe.

• Yields: 1 large fruitcake

Ingredients

• 6  ounces butter
• 3  eggs
• 1  pinch salt
• 2  teaspoons baking powder
• 8  ounces raisins
• 1⁄2 teaspoon mixed spice
• 6  ounces sugar
• 12  ounces flour, sifted
• 1⁄2 cup milk
• 2  tablespoons honey
• 8  ounces  chopped figs or 8  ounces dates

Directions

1. Cream the butter and sugar.
2. Add the eggs.
3. Mix in the rest of the ingredients, stirring well, adding the fruit last.
4. Bake in an 8 inch tin at 350 F for 1 1/2-2 hours.
