Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon canola oil
- 4 lbs chicken breasts, and thighs rinsed and patted dry
- salt and pepper
- 2 medium onions, cut into wedges
- 1 cup dark beer or 1 cup ale
- 1 1⁄2 cups barbecue sauce
Directions
- In a large skillet, heat: oil over medium-high heat.
- Season chicken with salt and pepper.
- Working in batches, brown chicken on both sides.
- Place browned chicken in a 4- to 5-quart slow cooker.
- Add onions to slow cooker.
- In a bowl, combine dark beer and barbecue sauce. Pour mixture over chicken and onions in slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on high-heat setting for 3 to 4 hours or low-heat setting for 7 to 8 hours.
