Beef Yakni

Ingredients
- 2 cups rice
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 star anise
- 1⁄16 teaspoon cardamom
- 1 clove
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- 1 teaspoon Madras curry powder
- 1⁄8 teaspoon fennel seed
- 1 teaspoon ginger, crushed
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 onions, diced
- 1 lb steak, tenderized so it doesnt have to cook as long
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 potato, diced
- 1 green chili pepper, minced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
Directions
- soak rice in water 1/2 hour , drain
- in pan melt butter add clove star anise fennel
- brown a minute
- add garlic and ginger
- brown add onions add beef and brown may need to add a little more butter
- add spices
- and brown
- add potato
- brown a little
- add broth
- add rice drained
- and green chili
- add salt and pepper
- cover and simmer 20 minutes until rice is cooked.
