BBQ Sauce (Memphis)

Yields: 4 cups
Ingredients
- 3 cups ketchup
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
- 1⁄2 cup molasses
- 1⁄4 cup mustard
- 1⁄4 cup corn syrup
- 1⁄2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chili powder (Gebhardt's)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons liquid smoke (hickory)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- Tabasco sauce
Directions
- Cook everything in a sauce pot for 30 minutes over medium low heat. Strain onions and discard. Add Tabasco to taste. Store in fridge. Best served warm. Can be used as finishing sauce the last feew minutes of grilling. Contains sugar, so will burn over direct heat. Freezes well.
