Bavarian Crostini

This recipe is very interesting and it tastes so good! Try it you might like it.

Ingredients

  • 14 cup butter or 14 cup margarine
  • 1  large Spanish onion, thinly sliced
  • 1  garlic clove, cut in half
  • 12 teaspoon caraway seed, coarsely chopped
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  •  French bread (sliced 1/4-inch thick) or   Italian bread (sliced 1/4-inch thick)
  • 14 lb  quartered swiss cheese or 14 lb  thinly sliced  jarlsberg cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375º.
  2. In a 12" skillet, melt butter over medium heat and cook onion, caraway seeds and salt, stirring occasionally, 14 minutes or until onions are golden.
  3. Meanwhile, on baking sheet, arrange bread slices.
  4. Bake 10 minutes or until edges are golden.
  5. When cool slightly rub with garlic cloves.
  6. Evenly top each bread slice with onion mixture, then cheese.
  7. Bake 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  8. Serve hot.
