Ingredients
- 3 ounces orange peel
- 3 ounces lemon peel
- 6 ounces almonds
- 1⁄2 cup lemon juice
- 1⁄4 ounce nutmeg
- 1⁄4 ounce clove
- 3⁄4 ounce cinnamon
- 1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons brandy
- 2 lbs flour
- 1⁄2 cup water
Directions
- Mix all the ingredients together, adding just enough water so that the batter can be worked (you might not need all of 1/2 cup water).
- Make sure that all the ingredients are thoroughly incorporated then tip the cake mixture into a greased and lined springform cake tin and bake at 350F for about 20 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow to cool thoroughly, slice and serve with coffee.
