Basic Roasted Brussels Sprouts

One of our favorite ways to enjoy Brussels sprouts, this recipe sees the sprouts roasted to release that earthy sweet flavor along with shallots and garlic. Show more

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees and bring a cast iron skillet to super high heat over the stove.
  2. Use a paring knife to remove the rough "stem" of the sprouts and peel off the leathery outer leaves.
  3. Toss the sprouts into a mixing bowl with the olive oil, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture into the cast iron skillet, making sure the sprouts are cut-side down. Immediately transfer to the oven.
  4. Roast for five minutes without touching, then add the garlic and shallot and give a stir. Roast for five more minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven and enjoy as a side dish or as part of a pasta or salad!
