Basic Lentils

Ingredients
- 1 lb brown lentils, rinsed and picked over
- 6 cups water
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 medium onion, peeled
- 1 bay leaf
- salt
Directions
- Put the lentils in a large slow cooker and add the water.
- Stick the cloves in the onion and add it to the lentils with the bay leaf.
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 4-5 hours, or until the lentils are tender.
- Add salt to taste.
- Let stand for 10 minutes.
- Discard the onion and bay leaf.
- Drain the lentils and serve hot.
