Basic Buttermilk Waffles

Yields: 4-5 eight inch round waffles
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt (scant)
- 1 1⁄2 cups buttermilk
- 3 eggs
- 1⁄2 cup melted butter or 1⁄2 cup margarine, slightly cooled
Directions
- Sift together the dry ingredients.
- Add the buttermilk, eggs and melted butter, mixing until there are no more lumps.
- This will make a very thick batter.
- Bake in a waffle iron according to the manufacturer's directions.
- *Note*:You may substitute an equal amount of yogurt, sour milk, sour cream, or cream for the buttermilk.
