Banana Split Supreme

I got this recipe from Taste of Home Magazine. It is delicious, but then all their recipes are!

  1. In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of butter, sugar, milk and chocolate chips.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil and stir for 8 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and cool completely.
  4. Meanwhile, melt the remaining butter; toss with cookie crumbs.
  5. Press into a greased 13x9x2-inch pan.
  6. Freeze for 15 minutes.
  7. Arrange banana slices over crust; spread with 1 quart of ice cream.
  8. Top with 1 cup of the chocolate sauce.
  9. Freeze for one hour.
  10. Refrigerate remaining chocolate sauce.
  11. Spread the remaining ice cream over dessert; top with pineapple, cherries and pecans.
  12. Cover and freeze for several hours or overnight.
  13. Remove from the freezer 10 minutes before serving.
  14. Reheat the chocolate sauce.
  15. Cut dessert into squares; serve with chocolate sauce and whipped topping if desired.
