Banana Bread

This is a recipe that my mother got from her mother. It never lasts long in any household. Make sure your bananas are very, very ripe. They should be brown all over for the best flavor (and easier mashing.) Show more

Directions

  1. The best way to combine the ingredients is to put either the eggs or the melted shortening in first, followed by the dry ingredients, followed by the last ingredient (shortening or eggs.) It doesn't really matter how they are combined but if the shortening and eggs mix together, you may find your eggs being fried before your very eyes.
  2. Once it's in the bowl, mix until combined (but don't overmix), pour into a loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes. Then sit back and watch it disappear!
