Banana and Semolina Pudding (Sheera)

I am calling this dish a pudding for want of a better equivalent to the word sheera. This is definitely a dish you have to try. A dessert or a tea time filler. Show more

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1  cup fine semolina
  • 2  cups milk or 2  cups half-and-half (Milk and water)
  • 2  small  ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1  cup sugar (or to taste- I use less around 3/4th cup)
  • 12 cup raisins
  • 3  cardamom powder
  • 3  tablespoons  clarified butter (ghee, cannot substitute this with anything else in my humble opinion)

Directions

  1. Roast the semolina in the clarified butter for 10 mins till golden brown.
  2. Then add 2 cups of milk/ half and half.
  3. When cooked add the mashed bananas and the sugar.
  4. Then when the mixture is almost dry, add the cardamoms and raisins.
  5. Serve hot or cold.
