Baked Fudge Dessert

Ingredients
- 1 cup sifted cake flour
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 1⁄2 cup nuts
- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons melted shortening
FOR THE TOPPING
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
- 1 3⁄4 cups hot water
- 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
Directions
- Sift the first five ingredients together, before stirring in the nuts.
- Make a well in the centre and add the milk, vanilla and melted shortening.
- Stir lightly and pour into a greased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish.
- For the topping, beat the ingredients together and pour over the batter.
- Bake at 350 F until done.
- Serve with whipped cream.
