Bacon and Cheese-Stuffed Burgers

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 1⁄2 lbs ground sirloin
- 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and finely chopped
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
Toppings (optional)
- lettuce
- tomatoes, slices
- onion, slices
- ketchup
- mayonnaise
Directions
- Preheat broiler or greased barbecue grill to medium.
- In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
- Saute mushrooms for 4 minutes or until tender; set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine beef, garlic powder, pepper and salt.
- Shape beef into 8 equal patties, about ¾ inch thick.
- Top each of 4 patties with bacon and Cheddar cheese.
- Top with remaining 4 patties, pinching to seal.
- Place patties on a grill rack or broiler pan coated with cooking spray.
- Grill for 8-10 minutes per side or until an instant read thermometer registers 160 degrees.
- Place burgers on buns.
- Top with mushrooms and desired toppings and remaining bun.
