  1. Preheat broiler or greased barbecue grill to medium.
  2. In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
  3. Saute mushrooms for 4 minutes or until tender; set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, combine beef, garlic powder, pepper and salt.
  5. Shape beef into 8 equal patties, about ¾ inch thick.
  6. Top each of 4 patties with bacon and Cheddar cheese.
  7. Top with remaining 4 patties, pinching to seal.
  8. Place patties on a grill rack or broiler pan coated with cooking spray.
  9. Grill for 8-10 minutes per side or until an instant read thermometer registers 160 degrees.
  10. Place burgers on buns.
  11. Top with mushrooms and desired toppings and remaining bun.
