Awesome Beer Can Chicken
- Reviews 2
Ready In: 1 hr 10 mins
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
- 1 roasting chicken
- 2 whole oranges
- 1⁄4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1⁄2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground red pepper (Cayenne)
- 16 ounces beer, your choice
Directions
- Clean out chicken and pat dry with a paper towel.
- Then cut oranges in half and squeeze all over chicken, inside and out.( make sure to pick up seeds and throw away).
- Then mix all other ingredients together and rub all over chicken. ( I also rub in between the skin and meat.
- Then take a few gulps of the beer and then stick the beer can in the chicken's rear and set up on grill. (Use the beer can and legs of chicken as a tripod to help stand up). I use a gas grill so you want to place it in the middle of the burners so it doesn't get direct heat. (If you use a charcoal grill to make sure and place charcoal in a circle around the chicken so it doesn't burn). I also use a tin pan to put under the grill on top of the rocks to catch any drippings.
- You then shut grill for about 1 hour and 45 minutes, until the chicken is 180 degrees in the thigh.
- Take off grill and let stand for 5 to 10 minute.
- It should just pretty much fall off the bone!
- Enjoy!
