Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Combine the eggs and brown sugar in the top of a double boiler.
  3. Cook 20 minutes over low heat, stirring frequently with a wooden spoon, until thick.
  4. Stir in the vanilla, sifted flour, dates and salt.
  5. Pour into an ungreased 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
  6. Bake 20 minutes.
  7. Cool, cut into squares and serve.
  8. YIELD 1 cake (6 to 8 servings).
