Asparagus Casserole

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 12 cups  Ritz crackers (about 39)
  • 12 cup  melted margarine
  • 1 (1 lb) can asparagus, pieces
  • 6  hardboiled egg, sliced
  • 4  tablespoons margarine
  • 3  tablespoons flour
  • 1 12 cups milk
  • 1 (5 ounce) jar  kraft  old English cheese
  •  salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Crush crackers in a plastic bag.
  2. Add the melted margarine and shake to mix.
  3. Drain asparagus.
  4. Put half of the crumbs in a 9 inch square pan.
  5. Layer egg slices over crumbs and top with asparagus.
  6. In a saucepan, melt the 4 Tbs.
  7. of margarine; stir in flour and milk, slowly to avoid lumps.
  8. Add cheese, salt and pepper.
  9. Stir, cooking over low heat until it thickens.
  10. Pour over asparagus and top with remaining cracker crumbs.
  11. Bake at 450 degrees 12-14 minutes.
