Ingredients
- 6 shallots
- 2 roma tomatoes
- 1 pinch ginger
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sambhar powder
- 4 teaspoons toor dal
- 1⁄2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 pinch hing
- 1⁄4 teaspoon tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 3 red chilies
- 1⁄2 teaspoon coriander seed
- 5 curry leaves
- 1⁄2 teaspoon coconut, turuval
Directions
- Heat oil, add 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds.
- Add curry leaves.
- Add shallots.
- After shallots are fried, add cut tomatoes.
- Add sambhar powder.
- Add tamarind paste( mixed with 1 cup water).
- Boil toor dhal with turmeric and hing.
- Fry redchillies, fenugreek seeds, coriander seeds.
- Grind the above with coconut and little water.
- Mix grinded mixture with boiled toor dhal and add to boiling sambhar. Add 1/2 cup dhal water.
- Leave sambhar to boil for another 5 minutes.
