Apple Walnut Bread

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar.
  2. add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. beat in buttermilk and vanilla.
  4. combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  5. add to creamed mixtures.
  6. fold in apple and walnuts.
  7. pour into a greased 8 x 4 inch x 2 inch loaf pan.
  8. bake at 350 degrees for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.
