Apple & Tea Hot Toddy

Ingredients

  • 2  quarts  filtered  apple juice
  • 1 12 cups  brewed black tea, such as english breakfast
  • 1 12 cups  apple brandy such as calvados
  • 8  cinnamon sticks

Directions

  1. Boil apple juice in a 4-5 quart heavy pot over high heat until syrupy and reduced to 1 1/2 cups, about 50 minutes.
  2. Combine apple syrup, tea and Calvados in a 2 quart saucepan and heat over moderate heat until hot (do not boil).
  3. Divide toddy among 8 small cups and serve with a cinnamon stick in each.
  4. Note: the apple syrup can be made 1 week ahead and cooled completely, uncovered, then chilled, covered.
