Apple Kuchen

This is a traditional German dessert. I looked for a long time before I found the right recipe for it. The topping is what makes this so good ! Show more

Directions

  1. Mix flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder and salt.
  2. Cut in butter to coarse crumbs.
  3. Press into bottom of 13x9 greased pan.
  4. Arrange apple slices over crust.
  5. Mix cinnamon with remaining sugar; sprinkle over apples.
  6. Bake at 400* for 15 minutes.
  7. Mix yolks and sour cream.
  8. Spread evenly over apples.
  9. Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle on top.
  10. Bake 30 minutes longer, until golden.
