Apple Cake

Ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 cups flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 dash salt
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups apples (diced)
Topping
- 3⁄4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3⁄4 cup walnuts
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream shortening and sugar, add flour mixture, milk, egg, and vanilla. Mix well.
- Fold in diced apples.
- Pour into baking dish.
- Mix together topping ingredients and spread over cake batter, bake for about 40 minutes.
