Apple Betty

Yes, there are other Apple Betty recipies, but this one is different. It is one of the easiest recipies I've ever used and is geat when unexpected company drops by - so keep the ingredients on hand. A good of friend of my mother's always made this dish when I came home from college. It was waiting for me hot on the table for me to dive right in. She didn't have a name for it. So, since her name was Betty, I called it Apple Betty. I've tried using fresh or homecanned apples and they make it taste so much better with added spices. Other fillings work great, too. My husband's Aunt Sue loves the Cherry Betty - or as his family has changed the name to Apple (cherry) Becky. This receipe is always requested at family gatherings and very little of it went home. His late great-grandmother and grandmother always ate a bowl full if they ate nothing else. Enjoy!!!! Show more
