AMISH Sugar Cookies, Lancaster County - the REAL deal!

My dear Amish sister-in-law shared this YUMMY recipe with me. These cookies are ALWAYS soft! Sure to be a hit with everyone! Enjoy!

• Yields: 4-6 dozen

Ingredients

• 2  cups  vegetable oil
• 4  cups brown sugar
• 8  eggs, beaten
• 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
• 7  cups flour
• 4  teaspoons baking soda
• 2  teaspoons baking powder
• 1  tablespoon vanilla
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt

• Crumb mixture

• 1  cup sugar (granulated)
• 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
• 1  tablespoon cinnamon

Directions

1. Mix oil& sugar.
2. Add beaten eggs& mix well.
3. Mix together dry ingredients, then add to above mixture alternately with evaporated milk.
4. Add vanilla.
5. Drop onto cookie sheets, and sprinkle w/ crumb mixture.
6. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees.
7. THESE SEEM TO HAVE THE BEST TEXTURE WHEN STIRRED (MIXED) BY HAND (WHISK), VERSUS AN ELECTRIC MIXER.
