Amish Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine
- 1 cup oil
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons vanilla
- 4 1⁄2 cups flour
Directions
- Cream margarine, oil, and sugars. Add eggs (1 at a time), beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Sift dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture.
- Chill dough for 2 hours. Roll dough into small balls and flatten with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Variation: Roll bolls in sugar, sugar & cinnamon, or colored, decorative sugar before baking.
