Alice's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

• 1  cup shortening or 3⁄4 cup butter or 3⁄4 cup margarine
• 1  cup brown sugar, packed
• 1⁄2 cup white sugar
• 1  teaspoon vanilla
• 2  eggs
• 2  cups flour, plus 1/4 cup extra if needed
• 1  teaspoon baking soda
• 1  teaspoon salt
• 1  cup  chopped  nuts
• 2  cups  semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

1. Mix shortening, butter or margarine and sugar,. Add vanilla and eggs.
2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda and salt. Combine flour mixture with butter mixture. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.
