Alain's Version of Mel's Beef Burger

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 (6 g) package  beef gravy mix
  • 4  hamburger buns with sesame seeds
  • 2  tablespoons butter, divided
  • 16  ounces  steak, thinly sliced
  • 1  medium onion, julienned
  • 2  teaspoons  relish
  • 2  teaspoons prepared mustard
  • 4  slices processed cheese (or your favorite unprocessed cheese)

Directions

  1. Prepare gravy mix according to package directions.
  2. Split hamburger buns, and butter the insides.
  3. Grill buns in a hot skillet until browned; set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter, sauté the steak and onion for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in 3 ounces gravy; simmer until liquid has reduced by half.
  6. Dress the bottom halves of the buns with relish and mustard.
  7. Top with steak and onions and a slice of cheese.
  8. Serve with plenty of napkins!
  9. Makes 4 servings.
