After-School Snack Cake

Actually, this is a tad more involved than I would do for an after school snack, but the results are delicious.

Ingredients

•  cake
• 1  cup sugar
• 1⁄2 cup butter, softened
• 1  egg
• 1 1⁄2 cups applesauce
• 1 1⁄2 cups flour
• 1⁄2 cup  cocoa
• 2  teaspoons baking soda
• 1  teaspoon vanilla
•  frosting
• 1  cup confectioners' sugar
• 2  tablespoons butter, softened
• 2  tablespoons  cocoa
• 1  teaspoon vanilla
•  milk, to make smooth

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375º.
2. Cream sugar and butter for cake then add remaining ingredients.
3. Bake in a 9” square pan for 30-40 minutes.
4. Cool.
5. Mix together frosting ingredients and frost cake when completely cool.
