A Midwesterner's Chili Powder
Ready In: 5 mins
Serves: 8
Yields: 1 Half-cup spice jar
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons dried ancho chile powder
- 1 tablespoon Hungarian paprika (Szeged Paprika if you can get it)
- 3⁄4 tablespoon ground cayenne pepper
- 3⁄4 tablespoon ground guajillo chile pepper
- 1 tablespoon Mexican oregano
- 1⁄3 teaspoon onion powder
- 1⁄2 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1⁄2 tablespoon turmeric
- 1⁄2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 2⁄3 teaspoon ground cloves
Directions
- Combine all ingredients and grind to a fine powder.
- Store in glass or plastic spice jar in the fridge for up to 6 months (storing in the fridge, while not critical, helps preserve the true flavor of the chili peppers).
- Use just as you would in place of store bought chili powder; you won't believe how much of a difference it'll make.
- Enjoy.
