A-1 Savory Dumplings

This recipe calls for one of the three seasoning: chives, parsley or poultry seasoning.

Ingredients

  • 2  cups flour
  • 3  teaspoons baking powder
  • 1  teaspoon salt
  • 14 cup shortening
  • 1  cup milk
  • 3  tablespoons  chopped fresh chives (The sage in the seasoning will makes the dumplings dark. It doesn't look as appetizing but it sure t) or 3  tablespoons parsley (The sage in the seasoning will makes the dumplings dark. It doesn't look as appetizing but it sure t) or 12 teaspoon  bell's poultry seasoning (The sage in the seasoning will makes the dumplings dark. It doesn't look as appetizing but it sure t)

Directions

  1. Sift dry ingredients.
  2. Add one of the seasonings.
  3. Add milk to make a stiff dough.
  4. When stew is close to being done, drop by small teaspoonsful into bubbling stew.
  5. Simmer 10 minutes uncovered.
  6. Simmer 10 minutes covered.
