3-Layer Minty Chocolate Chip Bars

Ingredients
- 1⁄2 cup butter or 1⁄2 cup margarine
- 1⁄2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1⁄2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1⁄2 cup butter or 1⁄2 cup margarine
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1⁄3 cup creme de menthe
- 1⁄4 cup butter or 1⁄4 cup margarine
- 1 1⁄2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
- In a saucepan combine 1/2 cup of butter/margarine with cocoa powder.
- Heat, while stirring until well blended.
- Remove from the heat and add 1/2 cup of the powdered sugar, egg and vanilla extract.
- Stir in crumbs and mix well.
- Press mixture into bottom of ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
- Melt another 1/2 cup of butter.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine melted butter with creme de menthe.
- At low speed of mixer beat in remaining 3 cups powdered sugar until smooth.
- Spread mixture over the crumb layer and chill for 1 hour.
- In small saucepan combine remaining 1/4 cup butter and chocolate chips.
- Cook and stir over low heat until melted.
- Spread over chilled layer and chill 1-2 hours.
- Cut in small squares.
