3-Layer Minty Chocolate Chip Bars

  1. In a saucepan combine 1/2 cup of butter/margarine with cocoa powder.
  2. Heat, while stirring until well blended.
  3. Remove from the heat and add 1/2 cup of the powdered sugar, egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Stir in crumbs and mix well.
  5. Press mixture into bottom of ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
  6. Melt another 1/2 cup of butter.
  7. In a small mixing bowl, combine melted butter with creme de menthe.
  8. At low speed of mixer beat in remaining 3 cups powdered sugar until smooth.
  9. Spread mixture over the crumb layer and chill for 1 hour.
  10. In small saucepan combine remaining 1/4 cup butter and chocolate chips.
  11. Cook and stir over low heat until melted.
  12. Spread over chilled layer and chill 1-2 hours.
  13. Cut in small squares.
