I am a mother of 3, a grandmother of 3, and a retiree who is addicted to recipe collecting! I began collecting recipes when I was a very young teenager -- and I still have that first recipe tear-out from Better Housekeeping. After years of collecting recipes from newspapers, magazines and friends, and buying cookbooks, I turned to the Internet. I estimate that my collection alone has 10s of 1000s of recipes. Then recently, I inherited my mother's collection -- yes, she too was ardent collector. Her collection has an additional few 1000 recipes, including recipes from the 1930's and 40's. Have I cooked from these recipes? You bet. Most were very good; some were excellent; and others were real losers. Whenever I have guests for dinner I must have at least one new dish on my menu. At the rate I'm currently "using" my recipes, I'd have to live at least 100 more years to get through about 25% of my current collection!! Of course I'd have to restrain myself from adding to my collection . . . wouldn't that be boring!
