My first memory being in the kitchen was rolling out some pie dough with my mini tools helping my Mom. From that moment on I was on a roll! Cooking was something I really enjoyed knowing my roots also played an important part in my cooking style. My grandparents came from Italy so I've had a special interest in Italian cooking. My other grandparents were midwesterners and I've adopted some of their recipes too. Collecting cookbooks and subscribing to magazines stimulates my imagination. Over the years it has been a real blast coming up with meals that are healthy, taste good and have a nice appearance. My husband knows that when he sits down to eat there won't be a white dinner plate with mashed potatoes and hominy! I have to have COLOR! I could go on and on but there is only so much space! In closing, now that I'm older I tend to go for more basic plain dishes than I did years ago. I love a baked sweet potato with just butter, salt and pepper on it. I don't crave the fancy dishes anymore like I once did. Times change, food fads change and so do we!
