I live in a region of Texas rich in a multitude of ethnicities; so therefore, I enjoy a wide range of food traditions. Czech, German, Tex-Mex food are the samplings in which we can imbibe in our locale. Along with Texas steaks and BBQ, our palates in South Central Texas are never bored with eating the same type of food. Since our children have grown up and moved away, my husband and I have been gradually breaking out of the "family" meal mold. Chinese cooking and making exotic breads have become my husband's new passion. I tend to stick with more healthy, low fat, "American" cooking but have my eye roving for new twists on simple-ingredient recipes. He and I have become more health conscious of our lifestyle and shy away from sweet, rich desserts and fat-loaded fried and fast foods.
