I'm an American who relocated to the UK over five years ago with my husband and three daughters. We've since welcomed two dogs into the family. Initially, I found cooking and baking a challenge. Brands and measurements are certainly different here. I work now almost exclusively in metric and have abadoned my cups for my scale with no regrets. Sometimes, the kids do lament stateside foods and ingredients which we cannot locate here. I admit that I miss canned black beans. I now cook and bake far more from scratch. The produce here is fantastic, and that's important because we are a family of vegetarians. Zaar's been a great resource for me. It's given me the opportunity to build a fantastic collection of cook books which require no additional shelf space! Moreover, I can gain support and advice from other members.
