Living a a "foodie" city like New Orleans, it is hard not to be interested in food! Cooking and dining out are such an integral part of life here. The extra pounds that they create are also very much in evidence on me :-( I love trying new places and then attempting to reproduce my favorites. Even tho some neighborhoods outside those tourists frequent are still in shambles, our restaurant scene is as vibrant as ever. We actually have MORE restaurants open now that B4 Katrina! I have really enjoyed getting back "out there" and savoring one of the best things N.O. has to offer! All of you foodies should come on down! The best thing you can do for the recovery of our region, next, of course, to volunteering for rebuilding, as so many wonderful, caring people are still doing, is just to visit us and have great time! The money you spend will help our area in so many ways! I'd be more than happy to e-mail with anyone planning a trip here. Living in a 250 sq ft FEMA trailer on my lawn is now much further back in memory & my cooking is nearly back to what it was before we began our many-months-long "camp out."
