This is a picture of my son's dog, any question as to which football team we root for?? Effective immediately (2/19/13) my cooking and eating is changing! On January 29th I had a heart attack! Fortunately with the grace of God and a great medical team, I got the treatment I needed (one stint and still have one artery that is totally blocked) and was home within 3 days!! This on top of being told a year ago that I was diabetic my love of cooking has become a challenege to cook well without giving up flavor and variety! Doctors want me to lose another 20-30 pounds (in addition to the 40 lbs) I had lost before the heart attack. Had given up white sugar, white flour, and white rice. Now I'm paying more attention to the sodium issues. All this said, I know that I can get great help and ideas here at Food.com. I look forward to continuing sharing recipes and ideas with the many friends I have come to know here and hope to increase my cooking skills even more!! I am a retired goverment employee who is back in the full time work force. I have always done the majority of the cooking since we married 30 years ago. My children are now grown (2 of the 3 are married) but still come home for Dad's home cooking. I have one grandson who is the joy of my life. Even though he's still very young, I plan on teahing him how to cook at an early age. My hobbies, in addition to cooking, includes hunting, fishing, working with the Boy Scouts and active within my church where I do a lot of crowd cooking. I am also really into the preserving/canning. I also enjoy entering my efforts in the local county and state fairs. One thing that really gets me is when someone says they can't cook. That is a crock of you know what!! If you can read and follow directions you can cook. I would rather the person say they DONT WANT TO COOK! That to me is more acceptable!
