I am a culinary graduate at my local community college, before that I was a stay at home Mom. I had been getting grumpier and harder to be around and sinking deeper into a funk now known as depression; while my fiance suffered at his mindless day to day job. I had lost my passion for life outside of flip flops, sweat pants and over sized sweat shirts and making sure that we didn't miss Sesame Street. We both weren't happy, and it was affecting our daughter. A few days after a particularly nasty fight he wrapped his arms around me, kissed my cheek and handed me a brochure for our local community college. He whispered Find something you're interested in and take some classes. We'll find a way to make it work. I picked culinary school and I haven't looked back! It's been over 2 years since that day; I've now graduate culinary school and working as a Kitchen Manager for a local harvest kitchen. My fiance is now the stay at home Dad (and doing great at it!) and I feel like a person again! Putting my chef uniform on gives me the biggest confidence boost and makes me feel a mile high. I'm slowly building my palate and my knowledge of food. I wake up every morning excited to learn and experience something new! I am the main cook at home and am still the one to make the menus and shopping lists. My fiance is always game for something new as long as it's not too complicated, and is even up to trying to cook some of the ones he likes. To see the smile and pride on his face when something is delicious or he cooks something wonderful, is worth every second I spend on this site. He likes to feel apart of ...that culinary thing [I] do.
