Psew! Been bumpy a ride so far, we know, but we appreciate everyone's patience and we are working with those of you who have reached out and our full team to iron out the kinks.
We originally posted this update last Friday and have just updated it with more information, so please re-read.
STATUS OF THE FORUMS — Updated!
Oy to the vey, right? We're
still trying to sort out some page load issues with the forums today. We don't have an exact time when we plan to open them up again, but I promise we've been working on it non-stop since we debuted Food.com. And don't believe the rumors — we're not trying to wipe out the forums! We want them back as much as you. Until we can pinpoint a fix, all forums will be DOWN and you'll get that "We're working on it..." message. It stinks, we know, but it's priority number one — promise!
Please let your friends know that they'll be back as soon as possible. Meanwhile, some people have started up some conversations on our
Facebook page's Discussion boards if you'd like to meet them there. (NOTE: We're not answering account issues or questions on our Facebook page.)

UPDATES ON OTHER ISSUES
Here are some updates on major bugs we're zapping and workarounds for the time being:
Accessing Cookbooks - UPDATED!
First, make sure you're signed in. You'll know this because your user icon and your username will show at the top right of any Food.com page. If you're not sure you're signed in, clear your browser's history, cookies and cache and then go to this sign in page again:

When you're signed in, go to any page, let it fully load and you'll know you're fully signed in because you'll see your avatar, like here (if you're not seeing it, contact us!):
Next, mouse your cursor over the COOKBOOKS tab at the top of the site. This will open a pop-up menu. From there you can click to access your cookbooks.
UPDATE ON BUG WITH PRIVATE COOKBOOKS: Many folks were having trouble accessing private cookbooks via the My Cookbooks list page and the Cookbooks flyout menu. We believe we've fixed this for everyone. If not, contact us and let us know. If you're still having issues, here's a workaround to try — go to your main Cookbooks page:

Select the private cookbook you'd like to view, click on "Edit Cookbook" and select to make it public. You might get an error message, but it will work. When you go back to that formerly private cookbook (via the
food.com/mycookbook list page), it will be public so you can get in and view it.
You can go back and make any of these cookbooks private again later.
BUG WITH REMOVING RECIPES: The "Remove" button is not working currently if you're trying to delete recipes from a cookbook. We hope to fix that and the private cookbook issue ASAP!
BUG WITH SEARCHING/SIFTING COOKBOOKS: Right now, it appears that the "Search This Set" box on individual cookbooks isn't working properly. Also, at this time, the Recipe Sifter is not recognizing your recipes in your Main Cookbook but should work on other custom cookbooks. These issues are on to-do list to fix!
Adding & Accessing Private Notes
We have disabled the option to add new private notes or access your previous private notes for now. We're working on the fix and hope to have that back up ASAP! This is why you won't see the "Add a Private Note" button on recipe pages right now and your list of Private Notes will be blank. Don't worry — all your info is saved.
New Recipe, Reviews, Photos, Corrections, etc. Submissions - UPDATED!
We have started publishing new recipes, reviews, photos, corrections, etc. again, and you should start receiving notifications. As of this morning, our Just Added module on the homepage is showing new submissions and you can click the links for lists of new recipes, photos, etc. from there (just like before). If you're wondering why your submission hasn't show up yet, don't worry! Anything you submitted to us previously went through and might still be in our queue. We have a lot to review, but we're going through them as quickly as possible.
Get a notice, but you're not seeing the recipe or review or photo yet? There might be a slight lag as the site catches up with everything and we plow through. If you receive a notification of an approved recipe, review, etc. but don't see it live yet, please check again tomorrow. If it's
still not there, let us know via the
Contact Us form. Don't worry — the info is saved!
NOTE ON CORRECTIONS: There is a delay with recipe corrections reflecting on recipe pages. If you submit a correction and get a notice that it's approved or accepted but don't see the change on the recipe, don't worry. The change has been captured — it's just not showing yet. You'll see that it went through by clicking on the "Submit a correction" link again and the changes show there.
Issues Signing In
Your account is still there and all your recipes and more are, too! If you're having trouble signing in, CONTACT US directly via
this CONTACT US form.
Tell us what email address you're registered with, the browser you're using and any error messages or problems you're encountering while you try to sign in. If you're able to comment below, you're signed in but you might not be seeing the signed in menu at the top right. Try going to this link and seeing if you can view your list of cookbooks:

If you can, you are signed in, but there's a problem with the correct site header showing up on your browser. Contact us and we'll help.
Recipe Printouts - UPDATED!
On some browsers, the whole recipe printout page is printing and not just the main recipe part and, in some cases, there are multiple pages printing. Don't worry! We've noted all the problems and are working to fix it as soon as possible. Most importantly, please note that the advertisement is NOT supposed to print out, too. We are correcting that!
Premium Members Now Seeing Ads
This isn't a bug! As part of our overall changes, we have now opened all previously premium-only features up to every member for FREE. If you're a premium member wondering about your refund, we're still working on those and hope to have details for refunds to share with everyone affected shortly. We repeat: Refunds are coming.
