    A wonderful friend makes this for her open houses, and it is a fantastic queso type dip to serve with tortilla chips. Just a touch of heat, but not too spicy (though if you like it spicy - just use hotter picante sauce). I'm a transplant and moved to Alabama in the late 90's, and ironically it's named Alabama dip!     With a name like that how could I not try it? I got this from a cookbook called Australia Wide Cookbook by Valwyn McMonigal I learned that bananas were introduced to NSW and yields apx 152,000 tons a year! They cover the bunches with blue plastic bags to protect the bananas from sunburn. Enjoy!

    I loved baked apples and this one is unique. I got this from a cookbook called Australia Wide Cookbook by Valwyn McMonigal. I also learned that the first apple orchard in Huonville was planted in 1841 and the fruit was exported in 1849 to India and New Zealand. And at one point Australia had 500 different varieties.

    I first made this for Girl Scout Thinking Day in 92 or 93. I made over 300 of them! Somewhere along the line I lost the cookbook, but then a friend of mine had the exact same cookbook and let me have it! I'm posting it here so I don't loose it again. I made them again for a NYE party to ring in 2011, they're just as great as I remember them! The parts can be made the day before and assembled right before needed.
