A vegetarian friend I served this to raved that it was the best eggplant dish she had ever tasted! I don't know about that, but it is definitely unusual and quite delicious. It is from "The World Cafe" vegetarian cookbook.

    Recipe #431239

This recipe is from The New York Times Jewish Cookbook. When my family asked what was baking, their reaction to the idea of carrot cookies was decidedly unenthusiastic. However, after tasting the cookies, their opinion greatly improved and the cookies quickly disappeared! I veganized the recipe by omitting the egg and using Ener-G egg replacer, and no one guessed they were vegan. They are a cakey cookie with bits of carrot throughout, quite colorful and tasty.

    Chewy, yummy goodness!

    Recipe #388531

I found this in the newspaper many years ago; it is supposed to be the bread they serve at Jesse Cates restaurant. It has been so long since I've had the original, I can't say how close it is, but I can say my family loves it! For a really decadent treat spread a warm slice with honey butter -- yum!

    Recipe #387565

I found this recipe in the LA Times Culinary SOS column years ago, and it is a favorite of ours. I remember the description said it was addictive, and it certainly is!

    Recipe #387441

My family likes this tasty gravy as much as, or better than turkey gravy. You can add variations to suit whatever you are serving it with. We particularly like it with Lentil and Wild Rice Loaf (recipe 265288), but it is also great on mashed potatoes or even meat. I found this on another web site and hand copied it without noting where it came from, so I'm sorry I cannot give credit to the proper source.

    Recipe #376771

My mom used to make these when I was growing up. Every time I make them I get requests for the recipe, which is a bit embarrassing as they are so simple! I have hesitated to post the recipe, as now my secret will be out, but these are just too good to keep to myself. Enjoy!
