    This makes a big batch, but my Grammie would make half with the apple topping, half with the custard. It was totally a breakfast of choice when have sleepovers at Grandma and Grandpa's house! Freezes well, and totally makes me feel 7 again... My timing for the baking of the kuchen may not be accurate - my grandparents had a very old oven that they baked them in...

    Don't know if the name is spelled right, but my great great grandparents brought the recipe over in their heads from "the old country". It's an Easter tradition and I love it - very mild and perfect Easter morning on some buttered toasted paska and baked ham... The food colouring is added because when the family moved off the farm, the yolks weren't as yellow, so it's just to keep it a pretty butter colour.

    This is basically sauerkraut and noodles, but it's oh so fantastic... Compete and total comfort food. Not sure how close my measurements are as Grandma cooking is measured in handfuls and pinches... You can put more or less sauerkraut depending on how much you like it! By the way, the noodles cook pretty fast, so don't walk away!

    There's an ice cream flavour called Tiger Tiger (black licorice and orange swirl) and from my days as a bartender, here's the cocktail it inspired! I usually used Grand Marnier and Sambuca but also subsituted Triple Sec and Ouzo... If it's black sambuca, add a little extra grenadine and it turns a lavender colour! Fun to garnish with an orange wedge and a piece of black licorice.

    This is another soup that I came up with - it goes best with a grilled ham and cheese sandwich in my opinion! For the cream, I use either 18% or whipping cream - whichever I have on hand. I've used half and half, but it's not quite as good. Depending on the brand of tomatoes and juice, you may want to add a tbsp of sugar as some brands are a little bitter - I like it best with Unico brand or sealer ones I buy at the Farmer's Market. I've even made it just in an electric frying pan and it still turns out!

    This is loosely based on a dessert I love, my mom ’s frozen peanut butter pie. Of course, I adore Haagen Dazs Mayan chocolate ice cream, too, so I thought I would try to combine the 2. You may not need the full half cup of butter for the crust, but I live at high altitude and its super dry, so I need it all!! The chocolate chips can be adjusted based on how chocolate-y you want it, but when it’s frozen, it is best to have the mini ones! I may say it serves 8, but my boyfriend thinks it should only serve 2… haha Cook Time is Freezing Time

    This is from a bi-monthly foodie magazine published in town and this was from the head chef at an amazing restaurant in Calgary called Brava Bistro. So decadent and delicious! Good, because you can prepare the mushrooms and the cream ahead of time and then just assemble quickly when your guest are there!

    I was craving poppers but didn't want super greasy bacon or high carb breading so I invented these... Sometimes instead of the garlic powder and seasoning salt, I use 2 tsp of a product called Johnny's Garlic Spread Seasoning which is just awesome - I buy it at Costco here in Canada. The number of jalapenos varies depending on the size you get and how much spread you put inside each half! Tried it with fat-free cream cheese and it just didn't have a good texture. Have also used shredded taco cheese blend right out of the freezer instead of plain cheddar!

    From Company's Coming - made it for dinner tonight and I loved it, especially since it didn't have any canned soup in it like many similar ones. The only change I made from the original is that I prefer black beans to kidney beans and I added more cumin and chili powder than this states as I like it spicier.

    Racahel Ray taught this recipe to Christian Slater and served it over papardelle noodles. Looked so good, I made it that night! Only thing is I used proscuitto instead of the pancetta as my local butcher didn't have any! I served it over spaghetti squash... I also used some asiago cheese...
