    This is my fall back dessert. My Mum brought the recipe back from Canada when she and Dad lived there before I was born. I don't make this very often as it is quite rich, but, oh so yummy. I also usually make 2 as it freezes so well without the topping. And then I put a seasonal fruit topping of my choice when it has defrosted. Sometimes I use digestive biscuits for the base, and sometimes chocolate chip or even ginger biscuits. You can ring the changes, it's all good.

    I stumbled across this recipe yesterday whilst looking for something quick and easy. I did not have any lemons in store except for bottled juice, so I made the alternative and used the beautiful navel oranges that are available instead. It was superb. It is a Rachel Allen recipe which is always good to follow. I halved the recipe and still found it very sweet so next time I will decrease the amount of sugar. I have described the recipe as I found it, adjust the sugar to your taste. I don't like very sweet things.

I usually have meatballs prepared in the freezer so that I can take out how many we need and vary the sauces each time. This is one of my childrens favourite.     I saw this demonstrated by Rachel Allen on TV yesterday - tried it and adored it. Had to share the recipe and to keep it somewhere safe. Serve it in little glasses to look pretty with cookies or berries. You can replace some of the cream with mild to make it a little lighter.

    I had never tried fried radishes before I found this site - Mr Breakfast - and I will certainly be using them more often. They become very mellow and, to me, a nicer sustitute for poataoes than the faux-potatoes recipes I have tried. First time I grated the radishes and omitted the onion and sauteed for only about 3 mins. Delish!
